DIY Nautical Wall Decor.

I bought this tin ship wall hanging forever ago at a thrift store and it just sat in the, “should I put it on Etsy or do I want to keep it for myself pile for quiet awhile. Then sometime last year I went through a little paint by number obsession and decided to paint my tin just so. After that, it went into the “projects I started and need to finish” pile… Seeing a pattern here? Finally, a couple days ago I finally finished it and I’m pretty much in love. I might fill the sky in the background at some point but for now I’m just glad it’s out of all those poor little piles I kept putting it in. ūüėČ

If you’d like to try your hand at one of these, here’s what you’ll need:

  • vintage embossed tin wall hanging
  • oil paints of your choice
  • thin paint brush
  • paint by numbers reference

I googled an image of a ship paint by numbers and used this one from Surrender Dorthy on Etsy for reference.

and here is how it turned out, I love the way it pops on the door. (I have to apologize for the grainy pics, here in Ohio we only get sunny days when it is below zero in the winter time. So these will have to do until another sunny day when I can update them.)
