I didn’t go all out on Christmas decorating this year, mainly because I didn’t have time. However, I did want to take a few moments to share a little bit of our living room with you this year. My theme this year was simple, use whatever we already have and here is how it turned out.
I decided yesterday that I needed a place to hang our Christmas cards. It’s not amazing but I think it works for the few days that it will be up. I’ll share how I did it in just a little bit.
I normally like a very decked out cohesive tree but this year I did it completely opposite because Nick wanted to hang all the odds and ends ornaments we both have collected over the years. I used some like bulbs that I had from a previous tree and mixed in some vintage and one of kind ornaments that we both had.
I had been trying to think for a couple weeks of how we could hang up our stockings. Then, a few days ago I stumbled upon this antique frame we had in our garage patiently waiting to have a mirror put in it and it came to me. USE IT FOR THE STOCKINGS! I just grabbed 3 cup hooks I had in the kitchen and voila, we have a make-shift mantle for our stockings!
Just a fun note: the Santa wrapping paper has been in our family since my dad was a kid! My Aunt gave me the last BOLT of it when she moved to Michigan so it’s still living on 50+ years later!
What fun things did you do for decorating this year using what you have? Would love to hear some of the creative DIYs that came out of it!
Wishing you all and abundance of peace and love over your holiday seasons!
